While Musk pointed to Ukraine-based IP addresses, cybersecurity experts warned that attackers can spoof locations to disguise their true origins.

Experts Urge Caution Over Early Cyberattack Claims

Eric Noonan, CEO of CyberSheath, warned against drawing conclusions too quickly. “Statements made immediately after or during an attack should be taken with caution,” he said.

X has previously experienced technical glitches under Musk’s ownership. In the past, when a 2024 chat with Donald Trump was delayed and attributed to a DDoS assault, his accusations of cyberattacks were viewed with suspicion.

X’s Ongoing Stability Issues

Since Musk’s 2022 acquisition of Twitter, X has faced multiple disruptions. Some people believe that the company’s decision to lay off 80% of its employees, including important engineers, may be a factor in the continuous outages.

Businesses and customers are now doubting X’s dependability in light of this most recent service outage. It’s unclear if this was a real hacking effort or just another infrastructure malfunction.
