Harrison Ford is back on the big screen. At 82, he stars in the much-anticipated Captain America: Brave New World. This marks his debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
“It’s a Marvel movie, for God’s sake,” Ford said. Ford told Good Morning America that he was thrilled to be part of a Marvel movie, calling it an honor. “It’s got all the smash-and-grab, running, jumping, and falling stuff,” he added. According to him, it was an introduction to an entirely new kind of filmmaking.
Ford assumes a legendary role as Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: Brave New World. The late William Hurt previously portrayed this character in five other MCU films. Ford steps into the role as Ross transforms from the president of the United States into the pseudo-villain Red Hulk. Ford described Ross as a complicated character, saying, “He turns into a Hulk on rare occasions.”
Captain America’s Changing Face
Anthony Mackie will also be the next Captain America in Brave Next World. Mackie replaces Chris Evans’s character, Steve Rogers, who wrapped up his storyline in Avengers: Endgame. Since Mackie’s Falcon now wields the recognizable shield, this represents a dramatic change in the MCU.
A Career That Keeps Evolving
Harrison Ford’s career spans nearly five decades. Audiences have loved him as Han Solo in Star Wars, as Indiana Jones, and more recently in Shrinking, a Golden Globe-nominated series on Apple TV. Despite his success, Ford finds acting still intriguing.
“I find a challenge,” Ford shared. “I find new people to work with.” He also mentioned that choosing a favorite role is like comparing children. “Each film is a different opportunity,” he said. “It’s kind of a fantastic way to spend your life.”
Looking Toward the Future
Although many recognize Ford for his iconic roles, he rarely reflects on his career. “I see it out of the corner of my eye every once in a while,” he said. “But I don’t reflect on it. Beyond that, I’m searching for something.”
Ford responded that green, not the Hulk’s red, is his favorite color when asked.
February 14, Valentine’s Day, marks the release of Captain America: Brave New World in theaters. In this action-packed movie, fans can anticipate Ford’s distinctive contribution to the Marvel universe.
